Wooburn made a rare trip to Princes Risborough for a hastily arranged fixture and found themselves in the field. Smally was thrown the ball and somewhat relunctantly bowled for an hour from one end while Jeff bowled a marathon 23 over stint from the other. Briggsy took two cracking catches and Jeff bowled a couple more, before Pete Selleck took a caught and bowled with his very first ball as Risborough struggled to 69-5. Tim Brooker then hit a classy 70 with some dull support from his Dad, before Martin Tennant and the young James Dolan cleaned up the tail with some great bowling to dismiss Risborough for 154.
Wooburn's reply got off to a predictable start with Coops playing the first over out for a maiden and Pete Selleck smashing three boundaries off the second over. Pete then fell to a full toss and the run rate slowed dramatically as Wooburn struggled to 52-2 off 18 overs. Coops hit 31, but struggled to find any support with Jeff the next top scorer on 18 as Wooburn found themselves at 104-8. With Risborough thinking the game was all but won, Kevin Dolan and James Briggs showed the rest of us how to bat and started to chip away at the total. Risborugh started to argue amongst themselves with the resistance being put up being a lot stornger than they expected. Opening bowlers were reintroduced and 1st X1 bowler Tim Brooker was brought on to try and take the two remaining wickets but with 4 needed off the last over, Briggsy hit the winning runs to lead Wooburn to a memorable 2 wicket victory.
