A resurgent 2nd XI stormed to a second successive 25-point win, defeating promotion chasing Hillingdon 2nds by a massive 182 runs. Another fine century by master craftsman Derek Milsom provided the backbone, with youth coming to the fore in the field, as Wooburn's youngsters played a starring role.

Skipper Stuart Savage opted to bat after winning the toss, despite the damp conditions. The Narks struggled early on against some testing seam bowling from Smith and Brown, and had slumped to 44-3 when Paul Cuthbert joined Derek Milsom. This was a crucial part of the game, another wicket or two and Hillingdon would be right on top.

After a quiet start, Paul got off the mark with a six over extra cover, but then he was borrowing Richie Harman's bat. Both batsmen defended stoutly in the early stages of their partnership, but always looked to despatch the bad ball. The score began to mount ominously for Hillingdon. Derek smashed a straight six, then took 10 and 12 from successive Huntley overs. Paul hammered boundaries off the unhappy Corbin, but then fell lbw to Brown just short of a well deserved 50. The pair had added 122 in quick time, and Sav now strode to the crease.

Hillingdon gave Derek the single and brought the field in for the new batsman. Sav reacted by smashing a blistering boundary over mid off. More mayhem was to follow for Hillingdon. Derek completed another fine hundred, improving on last week's career best, finally departing for 131. Hillingdon's wicket-keeper captain was unfortunately injured in the dismissal, the ball deflecting into his mouth.

Arran Shearer sacrificed his wicket in the hunt for quick runs, before Sav brought a halt after 50 overs with the score an imposing 263-6. This was a huge total in the conditions, and Hillingdon would have to bat well to get near it.

As it turned out, Hillingdon's batting was fairly dismal. In previous games against Wooburn, they had racked up some impressive scores, but not on this occasion. Paul and Wahleed opened up for the Narks, and the Hillingdon openers found it tough going. Corbin was first to depart, a wild swing slicing the ball high to Arran at cover. Corbin was not a happy man, the bat being thrown rather early in the piece.

Lonsdale struck one boundary, then almost departed to a magnificent effort by Tom Lees at mid off. Tom dived low to his left and 'caught' the ball in his left hand, only to knock it out when his elbow jarred on the ground. Lonsdale's reprieve was short as he skied the next ball to Alan at square leg.

Hillingdon's tale of woe continued. Huntley also skied to backward square leg, then opener Sarai was unfortunately bowled by one that nearly bounced twice. Brown briefly offered hope, hammering a rapid 34, before he too skied the ball to Graham Milsom at cover, who took a fine catch.

Smith edged to Derek at slip, and then Tom Lees wrapped up the innings, having Walker predictably caught at short cover, and then bowling the youngster Darbyshire. Hillingdon's captain, Hodgson, was still at Wycombe General A&E when the last wicket fell.

Another excellent hugely enjoyable win for the Narks, even more so given the contribution of the younger players, Matt Seager, Tom Lees, Graham Milsom and Wahleed Hussain. Tom and Wahleed looking particularly impressive.
