Wooburn won the toss and elected to bat after only 9 players managed to find their way to Wokingham's 3rd XI ground. On the hottest day of the cricketing calendar so far, the Wooburn line up suffered in the heat. Derek Milsom and Rob Rogers started the game in good form before the slow pitch put pay to Rogers' cavalier approach.
Derek Milsom held fast as wickets tumbled bringing Phil Cuthbert to the wicket at 68-4. A few lusty blows later and Wooburn were in a better position before Milsom fell. The young whipper-snapper Graham Milsom arrived at the crease with the score on 99-6. Together Milsom and Cuthbert put on 71 with some fine straight driving and collosal hits off the Wokingham attack. Unfortunately Cuthbert was caught attempting another pull over deep mid wicket. Soon after the innings was wrapped up after 41 overs.
Wokingham never looked in any trouble as the heat had syphoned the strength out of the valiant 9 Wooburn players, and they hit the winning runs with 7.5 overs remaining.
