Despite a splendid unbeaten century from Ray Bing (103 not out), Wooburn Narkovians were beaten by four wickets at Marlow Park in the Grasshopper Chiltern League, off the very last ball of the game.
Although they lost an early wicket, Paul Cooper (17) and Bing settled things down to push the score along. Stuart Savage then hit an impressive 67 while partnering Bing and the visitors were able to declare at 200-4.
Because of rain, Marlow Park only had 39 overs in which to get the runs. Wooburn seemed to be in a strong position, but the batsmen attacked the bowling in search of a win. Openers Tony Wasley (48) and Derek Harris (26) were well supported by D.Bond (20), Mick McKeown (40) and Tony Austin (35), and the home side reached the winning total of 204 for the loss of only six wickets.
