Welcome to Junior Cricket at Wooburn Narkovians
Wooburn Narkovians welcomes young players of all ages, from U7 (school Year 2) through to U17. We aim to provide quality coaching in a safe, stimulating and fun environment where young players of all abilities can develop a love of the great game of cricket, improve their skills and test themselves in matches against other local clubs.
The junior section is a vital part of this cricket club, and there is a direct route from the juniors into senior teams for those players who want to take it. Over the years, many players have made this progression and a large proportion of the current 1st and 2nd XI players have come up through the junior teams. We want this to continue, our juniors are very much the future of this cricket club.
New Members Welcome
With 50 new members joining since spring 2009, the junior section of the club goes from strength to strength. New members are always welcome. If your child is looking for a club to join or fancies a change, please contact us through this website, or come along to one of the coaching sessions. We will be delighted to see you. For any existing members, if you have any friends who might be interested, please bring them along.
Winter Nets, Coaching and 'Try Cricket' Day
This year we have organised regular indoor net session at Beaconsfield High School. These will take place on Friday nights, 7-8pm, on the following dates:-
2010 - October 15, November 12, December 3
2011 - February 18, March 4, 11, 18, 25, April 1, 8
These are hard ball sessions for age groups U10-U15. If you are interested in coming, please contact us before hand in order to give us an idea of numbers. There will be a charge of £2 per player to cover hall hire costs. New members are welcome!
In spring 2011, we will also be running Sunday afternoon softball coaching sessions for the younger age groups at the Bourne End Junior Sports Club Hall (Wye Valley, School), and a 'Try Cricket' day over Easter. These sessions were very popular last year, and are a good starter for children new to cricket.
Coaching and Practice with ECB Qualified Coaches
Outdoor coaching sessions are held at Wooburn Park on Sunday mornings and will recommence on 24th April 2011, continuing through to September. These are run by the club's growing number of ECB qualified coaches. The Sunday sessions are from 10.00am to 12 noon and are split by age group/ability with U7/U10 undertaking softball sessions, and U10/U15 doing hardball coaching and nets.
Teams, Matches and Competition in 2011
In 2011, the club plans to enter teams in the Bucks League competitions at U11, U12, U13 and U15 age groups, and we also plan to arrange friendlies at U10 and U16. In addition, there will be softball kwik cricket for younger (U8/9) players, including a tournament at Wooburn in July 17th. All our young players will have the opportunity to play in matches.
ECB Clubmark - A Commitment to Youth Development
To demonstrate Wooburn Narkovians' commitment to youth development, the club is continuing to work towards the ECB Clubmark accreditation. The various Child Protection and Safeguarding policies have been posted on the Child Welfare page. More information on this will be posted on the website in due course.
